Ava Lindt goes to work as a consultant for 4 months at a multi-million-dollar jewellery company and meets CEO Sebastian Bennett. Neither of them are looking for a relationship, in fact, Ava’s boss has a strict non-fraternisation policy. However, sparks fly from almost the get-go and while they try to fight it, the attraction is just too strong. Will they be able to make the relationship work? Or is it doomed from the beginning?
This is a sweet, refreshing story. A great start to a new series, I hear each sibling is getting a book. Yay! I loved Layla Hagen’s writing, she writes so well and immerses the reader/ listener into the story, she has the perfect balance of funny banter, plenty of sexy times and even some emotional moments. I adored the Bennett family, I can't wait to read/ listen to more of their antics. I cannot believe it took me so long to find this series, but on the bright-side, I have 6 books to binge on.
I liked the plot for this book, sure it’s not original but it is uniquely Layla, she made it her own. The sexy millionaire who isn’t looking for love and falls head over heels for the one person he shouldn’t. The independent woman who never has a problem resisting men, until the one she can’t resist is the one she really should. I love that although this book is a romance and about the relationship between Sebastian and Ava, it is just as much about family. Each of Sebastian’s siblings was endearing in their own way, I liked how the ending of the book lets you know who the next book is going to be about.
I loved, loved, loved Sebastian Bennett. He knew what he wanted and stopped at nothing to get it. The fact that he was a self-made millionaire appealed to me and he didn’t come across as arrogant like he could have. The way he was with Ava so super sweet. I adored his alpha moments, almost as much as his sweet moments. He was the complete package.
I thought Ava was a great character, I loved that she was independent and successful at what she does. Her attempts at trying to resist Sebastian were cute but I was hoping he’d break through sooner rather than later. She’s suffered a lot of loss in her life, she had nobody, I wanted to see her have someone that would care for her and give her a family. The fact that the other Bennetts adopted her early on just made my heart melt.
The relationship between Sebastian and Ava was sweet and steamy. I couldn’t help but root for them. I loved their chemistry. The sex scenes were smoking hot and fit well with the story. There isn’t a lot of angst in their relationship, which I liked, sometimes I want sweet, sometimes I want the couple to just know and not have a lot of conflict. Sure, there was a moment or two when I didn’t know how things would play out and I might have gotten a little shouty at the characters.
Kasha Kensington was fantastic as Ava Lindt and performed her beautifully, I struggled a little with the change from Ava to Sebastian but found if I increased the speed just slightly I enjoyed it more, this is probably just personal taste.
Aiden Snow was the perfect choice for Sebastian Bennett. He performed him brilliantly. The entire performance was smooth and captivating, his voice was pure perfection for the sexy times. The change in tone and inflection for the change between male and female characters was subtle but effective. I cannot wait to listen to more.
